I love faces. I think the face is the most interesting and beautiful part of the body. Just as every face is different, I believe each has its own unique needs, especially when it comes to skincare.

For seven years, I worked in film, television, and theater production, from casting and assisting directors to set design and studio makeup. During this time, I discovered how much I liked the genuine one-on-one time with the actors and extras while working in the makeup department. I found I  was a natural at helping them troubleshoot problems with their skin before, during, and after their time in the make-up chair. I thought to myself, "If I could only work to improve and enhance skin and faces all the time…". That's when I had my eureka moment to become an esthetician.

In 2007, I got my esthetic license and started exploring the industry while working for dermatologists and high-end salons in Austin. Although I learned a lot, I realized that the only person who could provide clients with the kind of overall experience I wished for them was me. I needed to channel my talents with and passion for treating skin by focusing on my own style of service as both an esthetician and a business owner.  So, I decided to open a business to call my own that is not only down-to-earth and affordable but also based on services and products that really work.

My approach to skincare is simple. I believe in progressive and educated applications, and I never sell my clients anything that will not be beneficial. Also, I add tried and true eastern and western superficial skincare practices for the best hybrid approach in my facials. In order to keep up-to-date on the latest developments in the industry, I read current skincare publications and dermatological journals, attend esthetic expos and training seminars, as well as receive modality certifications. I am well-versed in many skincare lines from the simple over-the-counter products to the dermatological-grade. If a client has a question about how to improve their home skincare routine or which facial to choose, I'll have the answer. If it's beyond my scope, I will always refer clients to my list of dermatologists and plastic surgeons, who are as passionate about taking care of your skin as I am.

Since opening up Skin By Rachel in 2008, I have established a loyal clientele by word of mouth. I'm expanding my skincare business with even more esthetic services and by creating an enhanced online presence. I post my famous skin tips and specials on my Skin By Rachel Facebook profile as well as last minute super deals on Twitter.
